About Imani

My career in communications began with a curiosity for people and the stories they carry. As a high school student, I was already interviewing artists like Jeremih for Goddess Girl Magazine, learning early on how thoughtful questions and genuine interest can create connection.

That curiosity deepened through the Princeton University Summer Journalism Program and later as opinion editor for my college newspaper, where I sharpened my voice and learned how to translate complex ideas into compelling narratives. While journalism shaped my foundation, I realized I wanted to apply storytelling in a more strategic way, which led me to communications.

After earning my B.A. in Communication from Lake Forest College, I led communications for a Chicago performing arts nonprofit, an experience that cemented my interest in brand storytelling and audience engagement. I then went on to earn my M.S. in Marketing from the University of Illinois Chicago. From there, I carved a path in organic communications and content development, with roles at UIC College of Pharmacy, ISACA, and now Argonne National Laboratory.

Beyond full-time work, I’ve delivered content strategy, copywriting, vertical video production and design for a range of clients across industries like tech, health, personal care, and the arts. And in my free time? I'm a songwriter!
